Allerton Avenue (IRT White Plains Road Line)

Allerton Avenue Station · Opened 3/3/1917

Our next stop is Allerton Avenue, which has a wood mezzanine with windows outside the fare control and an extra exit on the southbound side. The station is very plain, the only ornamentation or color being the window sashes and mullions. (Mullions are the dividers in the window while the sashes are the outside of the window. If you think of it as a tic-tac toe board with a frame around it, the frame is the sash and the board the mullions.)

Allerton Avenue was renovated in 2005 and in fact was closed for a few weeks leading up to May, 2005 to accommodate the work.
