Built for the IND under contract R-3, #41 and
sister #42 worked the refuse trains on the IND system and later as
yard switchers. #42 was in a collision in 1948
and remained in storage until 1955 at 207th St Yard, at which time it
was scrapped. #41 was sold to Railway Preservation Corp. in 1978 and
remained at Coney Island Yard. It was first on loan to the New York
Transit Museum and then was under the care of the Railway Preservation
Corp. in recent years. It is still at Coney Island Yard. |
