14th Street (IND 8th Avenue)

14th Street Station · Opened 9/10/1932

Four tracks, two island platforms. Tile and name tablets are gold. This station has a full mezzanine, with new tile adding a brown border to the top of the gold stripe. The vastness of this mezzanine is also home various NYCT training schools. There is a closed passageway to the Seventh Ave. IRT behind a grille, which is now used as an emergency exit. A transfer to the BMT Canarsie Line is at the south end. This station is being renovated at this time. The 14th St. station is approximately 20 feet below street level.
