207th Street (IRT West Side Line)

207th Street Station · Opened 3/16/1906

From here to 242nd St., the elevated stations are unique in that there is no station house in the northbound direction. Northbound entrance is via Metrocard High Entrance/Exit Turnstiles and an old style token "Iron Maiden". The stations at 207th St., 215th St., 225th St. and 231st St. feature a common cast concrete artwork entitled Elevated Nature, created in 1991 by artist Wopo Holup. Mercifully, the stations have escaped the windscreens blocking the view and none have a crossover or crossunder. The elevated stations along this line (except 242nd St. and Dyckman St.) have heaters in the station house and to my pleasure most were working.

From 207th Street you can see the 207th Street Shop of the IND to the east. A track connection leads from the IRT to the yard. The shop is east of the IRT line and parallels it to 215th Street. A detailed Track Map of the 207th St. Yard leads and surrounding stations is available.
